Anna arrived from the UK on Sunday 24th January. We had a full house but enjoyed the company!! Of course Anna made it before her luggage did [flying Qantas] so we had to do some shopping as she came from the winter to +30 degrees.
It was Australia Day on the 26th January. Daryl and I took Anna and Yvonne to Hahndorf and Gameracha where we saw the GIANT ROCKING HORSE!!
17438 km from Montreal Bird for Jocelyn
Welcome to our Blog. We will try to keep it updated as much as possible. Hope everyone enjoys this :)

Mt Gambier - The Blue Lake
The following weekend we hired a car and took Anna and Yvonne to Mt Gambier. Last year Daryl and I went to Mt Gambier and visited The Blue Lake. The colour was quite different this time. Breath taking.
Coastline Since we had hired a 4 Wheel Drive, Daryl decided to drive onto the beach. We were having fun until we drove a short distance on the beach and started to sink. I think Daryl was a little nervous as well and started to call around for advice! We all had to get out of the car and while Daryl was having fun “trying to get back to the road”, Yvonne, Anna and I were getting attacked by horse flies! We had to let air out of all four tires. Unfortunately I only took one photo and it does not really indicate how bad it really was!
Umpherston Sinkhole – at one time it was a cave. The man who owned the land turned it into a garden for his wife. Lots of bees but quite amazing.

Mt Schank & The Hoo Hoo Lookout
On our way back to Mt Gambier we saw signs for Mount Schank volcano climb. Anna, Daryl and I decided to do the climb while Yvonne relaxed in the car. It was 329 steps to the top but the view was definitely worth it. Daryl beat us to the top but Anna and I took our time as we both realized how out of shape we felt! And let’s be honest – it is the middle of an Australian summer and we both come from cold countries!!
We made it to the top! This is the “fake blue lake” is what I like to call it. It is NOTHING compared to the real Blue Lake. It was stinky and we could not get away from the flies.
We went on a nature walk and I quite enjoyed the name of this lookout.
This is how good our new camera is!!

Caves and The BIG LOBSTER
On our drive back home from Mt. Gambier we stopped at another cave. And we stopped again at the BIG LOBSTER!!!
Michael the Torchbearer:)
On Saturday the 6th February 2010 Anna, Daryl and I watched our friend Michael be a torch bearer for the winter Olympics. We were quite excited to watch it live via webstream!! Hope you got our message Michael!! Michael is the one on the left.
Helicopters and the Barossa
On the Sunday we took a drive to the Barossa which is 45 minutes from our house. We took a 30 minute helicopter ride.
We took Anna to the Whispering Wall.
The Tour Down Under
Yvonne came to visit us for two weeks in January. At the same time our friend Lee raced in the Tour Down Under. Lee’s girlfriend Kerri-Anne, Yvonne, Daryl and I drove to McLaren Vale to be at the finish line for one of the races. We plotted outfits for next year so we can get on TV!!
